Week 3 - Advanced Rendering Techniques

What I've Completed this week:

So far this week I have finished modelling my road in Maya, which I did by projecting a set of curves along a path that followed the layout of my track:

I then proceeded to use the loft tool to loft my topology along these curves, giving me the general layout for my track. I used this method as it allowed me to easily create a smooth surface for my track whilst still allowing me to tweak and change the track at a later date due to the topology of the track being bound to the curves.

I then Proceeded to edit and tweak the track as well as rough up the side walls to make them look more rocky:

After editing the track to the point where it can be textured I imported it into Unreal and started sculpting the terrain around the track. This is quite a time consuming task as the terrain takes to create a nice smooth gradient that matches up with the edge of the track, but I'm still confident that I will be able to get it done in the correct time frame as this is the hardest bit, once the terrain has been matched up to the track the surrounding terrain will be extremely easy to create.

What I need to do next:

Next I need to continue sculpting the terrain around my road and then sculpt the rest of the terrain.
